Dan Busby Event Recap

  • Post category:News

Thank you to everyone to came out to our first ever event in our NEW Bowmanville office! We’d like to thank our staff who stayed late as well as Dan Busby and Kristin Erz from Hurtigruten Cruises who made the trip to come and speak with us!

Dan discussed his experiences as an Expedition Leader in Antarctica and other polar regions of the world. Some of the locations we learned about include Norway, Greenland and Iceland. Dan was born and raised in small towns of the Canadian prairies and now lives in central Canada.

He spent 30 years as a wildlife biologist with Canada’s national government. It was here that he worked on a wide variety of research and conservation activities including the effects of toxic chemicals on birds, population monitoring, avian diseases, environmental assessment, species at risk and the effect of wind power developments on birds. He now works on board Hurtigruten cruise ship educating tourists on the environments he is in.

Dan was very insightful and is extremely passionate about what he does which showed in his lecture. He also shared a ton of his amazing photos that he takes on his tours. One lucky attendee left with a framed photo of a penguin taken by Dan himself!

Here are some of the photos from our event for those that are interested!
