Susan Carr
With a career spanning nearly six decades, Susan has had the rare opportunity to witness and participate in some of the world’s most significant historical shifts.
Before the airline regulation changes of the 1990s, she joined numerous “fam” (familiarization) tours organized by airlines and tour companies. These experiences took her to destinations seemingly locked in time, such as Afghanistan prior to the Russian invasion of December 1979, and Bhutan during the king’s historic decision to transition the country from a medieval monarchy to a modern democracy.
Over the years, Susan has circled the globe twice, exploring nearly every corner of the world. While she still hasn’t made it to Egypt, Antarctica, or New Zealand, she has more than made up for it with extensive travels throughout India, visiting nearly every region across ten separate tours.
Cruising has also been a major part of her journey. She has sailed with numerous cruise lines through the Caribbean, Mexican Coast, Alaska, Mediterranean, Baltic, Tahiti, and the Galápagos, as well as along the Danube, Saône and Rhône, Seine, Rhine, and Mekong rivers. Her favourites remain small-ship experiences, such as Windstar and Oceania, along with intimate river cruises.
What Susan enjoys most, however, is arranging travel for her clients—many of whom have become lifelong friends. She approaches each trip as though she were the one travelling, ensuring that every detail is thoughtfully planned. Hearing her clients share their joy and memories upon their return is what makes her work most rewarding.
In 2023, Susan joined Kemp Travel, where she has found a supportive and welcoming team. Transitioning to working from home has given her more time for the in-depth research required to craft exceptional vacations, while eliminating the stress of long commutes. With Kemp Travel’s nearby office just a short, easy drive away when needed, she now has the perfect balance to focus on what she does best: creating unforgettable journeys for her clients.
